Swedish Massage.jpeg

Swedish massage therapy is the most common modality that most people think about when it comes to body massage.  This type of bodywork is performed by long gliding strokes of the muscles using massage oil or cream.  The soft and sometimes light rubbing of the muscles are in the direction of your blood returning to the heart.  Other Swedish massage techniques include circular pressure applied by the hands and palms, firm kneading, percussion-like tapping, bending and stretching.  Swedish massage is a relaxing bodywork that relieves the body of tension.  This massage service modality warms up the muscle tissue, releasing tension, and gradually breaking up "knots."

Deep tissue massage modality bodywork is similar to Swedish massage , but focuses on the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue.  Especially helpful for tense areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.  Deep tissue massage is used to break up scar tissue and physically break down muscle "knots" (bands of painful, muscles) that can cause pain, limited range of motion, and inflammation.  Deep tissue massage service usually focuses on a specific problem, such as muscle pain.

Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu Chinese massage therapy is similar to Chinese acupressure.  It includes gentle pressing with palms, thumbs, elbows, fingers, knees and feet, on the meridians in order to induce relaxation of the mind and body..

Ashiatsu Massage

Ashiatsu massage therapy, is a barefoot massage technique in which the therapist delivers deep, broad, consistent pressure while utilizing their feet and body weight. Working with gravity instead of against it, Ashiatsu therapists are able to provide an effective therapeutic massage without causing pain or discomfort to themselves or the receiving client. Cream or oil is applied to the clients body making this deep therapeutic massage fluid and relaxing. Parallel bars are used above the massage table for balance, support and client safety.

Reflexology

Foot reflexology is based on the principle that the foot is like a chart for the rest of the body.  Its divided into ten reflex zones and is basically a mirror image of the body.  By looking at a reflexology chart you can see that each zone corresponds to a specific area of the body by applied manipulation and pressure of reflex points.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage therapy promotes deeper muscle relaxation through the placement of smooth, heated stones at key points on the body. Our professional massage therapists also incorporate a customized massage, with the use of hot stones. The premise behind hot stone massage therapy is that the direct heat of the stones relaxes muscles, allowing the therapist access to their deeper muscle layers. .

Having been developed by Chinese medicine over 5,000 years, this is a type of massage that uses pinpoint pressure on certain parts of the body. By specifically targeting these specific parts, tensions that normally build up within these areas are released, giving the person significant relief. The acupressure massage uses the same principles as acupuncture treatment in that they target the same acupoints. However, they don’t use needles to “puncture” these spots. Instead, they apply pressure, which is where the massage got its name.

Eastern Massage

As the name suggests, an Eastern Massage is a type of bodywork that follows the principles of traditional Asian medicine, which usually translates to touch-based therapy with very specific purposes. This is why there are many kinds of Asian massages with different effects on the body, although they all aim to rejuvenate the body and promote some degree of physical and mental relief. Most Asian massages employ techniques that work with the body’s energy flow or chi. Basically, the goal is to create balance within one’s inner elements or chakras so that the body is reset. This is in contrast with western massage techniques that are mostly meant more for relaxation.
